MTV Movie Awards 2012 Winners

Boleh saja film The Artist dan Hugo merajai Piala Oscar dan sejumlah penghargaan lainnya, namun jika kita bicara tentang MTV Movie Awards, lain ceritanya. Film-film blockbuster berjaya di box office mendominasi penghargaan tahunan yang memperebutkan tropi Golden Popcorn, dengan kategori yang berbeda dengan penghargaan film lainnya di antaranya Best Hero, Best On-Screen Dirtbag, Best Kiss dan Best Fight. Pemenang dipilih berdasarkan online voting di website MTV mulai 1 Mei dan berakhir 2 Juni, kecuali untuk kategori Movie of the Year yang tetap dibuka sampai acara berlangsung. MTV Movie Awards tahun ini memperebutkan duabelas kategori.

Digelar hari ini 4 Juni (3 Juni waktu setempat) di Gibson Amphitheatre, Universal City dengan host actor/comedian Russel Brand disiarkan di channel MTV. Film yang paling banyak diperbincangkan tahun ini The Hunger Games seperti diduga memborong empat penghargaan dari total delapan nominasi, dua di antaranya untuk Best Female dan Male Performance masing-masing untuk Jennifer Lawrence dan Josh Hutcherson. The Twilight Saga yang biasanya memborong penghargaan MTV Movie Awards, tahun ini ‘hanya’ memenangkan dua kategori Movie of the Year dan Best Kiss – dimenangkan Robert Pattinson dan Kristen Stewart selama empat tahun berturut-turut. Film komedi Bridesmaids memenangkan dua kategori untuk Best Comedic Performance dan Best Gut-Wrenching Performance sayang tidak disiarkan MTV karena keterbatasan waktu. Kategori Best Music dimenangkan oleh duo LMFAO untuk hit single Party Rock Anthem merupakan lagu untuk film 21 Jump Street. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 2 merebut dua kategori untuk Best Cast dan Best Hero. Kategori Best On-Screen Dirtbag dimenangkan Jennifer Aniston untuk perannya sebagai dr. Julia Harris dalam film Horrible Bosses.

MTV Movie awards tahun ini dimeriahkan dengan penampilan band rock The Black Keys bersama Johnny Depp yang menerima penghargaan MTV Generation Award, serta indie band Fun tampil dengan hit single We are Young. Cuplikan film The Dark Knight menampilkan Heath Ledger sebagai Joker membuat aktor Christian Bale tampil emosional, ‘It’s great to see Heath Ledger up there’ ucapnya dengan mata berkaca-kaca sebelum memperkenalkan Christopher Nolan. Sutradara Christopher Nolan mempersembahkan sneak peek eksklusif The Dark Knight Rises yang merupakan sequel terakhir Batman seri sejak film pertama Batman Begins (2005), The Dark Knight (2008), menurut jadwal akan dirilis 20 Juli tahun ini.
