Adele Pimpin Perolehan Nominasi

Adele masih terus mengukuhkan dominasinya di dunia musik, dalam Billboard Music Awards 2012 penyanyi asal London, Inggris memimpin perolehan nominasi dengan total 18 nominasi termasuk kategori bergengsi Top Artist, Top Female Artist dan Top Billboard 200 Artist. Menyusul di belakang Adele, duo rapper LFMAO dengan 17 nominasi, disusul Rihanna dengan 13 nominasi. Lil Wayne dan Lady Gaga masing-masing mendapatkan 10 nominasi. Lady Gaga akan bersaing dengan Adele, Rihanna dan Katy Perry dalam perebutan kategori Top Female Artist.

Dilansir dari Billboard.com akan tampil sebagai performer tahun ini di antaranya Kelly Clarkson, Usher, Linkin Park, Nelly Furtado, Carrie Underwood, LFMAO, Ceelo Green serta Justin Bieber.

Billboard Music Awards merupakan penghargaan dihitung berdasarkan chart ranking, track download, penjualan album dan single, radio airplay, konser, interaksi media sosial seperti Facebook, Twitter, YouTube maupun Vevo, bekerja sama dengan Nielsen Entertainment dan Next Big Sound. Untuk penghargaan tahun ini dihitung mulai 1 Maret 2011 sampai 29 February 2012.

Penghargaan Billboard Music Awards tahun ini menurut rencana akan digelar di MGM Grand Arena Las Vegas hari Minggu 20 Mei waktu setempat (atau Senin 21 Mei waktu Indonesia) disiarkan secara langsung oleh ABC dengan host bintang Modern Family – Julie Bowen dan Ty Burrell.

Billboard Menobatkan Adele Sebagai Top Artist 2011

Tahun 2011 rasanya menjadi milik Adele penyanyi asal Inggris 23 tahun berkat kesuksesan sophomore albumnya 21 yang resmi dirilis 24 Januari 2011 di UK dan 22 Februari di US berhasil menjadi best selling album 2011 terjual sekitar 5 juta copy hanya di US dan lebih dari 12 juta copy di seluruh dunia, membuat Billboard tak ragu untuk menobatkan Adele sebagai Top Artist 2011. Single andalan album ini, Rolling In The Deep juga menjadi lagu paling populer tahun ini berhasil merajai berbagai chart di berbagai negara. Dikutip dari billboard.com, menganggapi kesuksesan yang diraihnya Adele mengungkapkan “When it comes to staying myself -- my career isn't my life, it doesn't come home with me. So it's a piece of piss staying grounded and not being changed by it. The same things I've always liked still satisfy me.”

Lady Gaga Marry The Night Music Video

Bukan Lady Gaga jika tak menampilkan sesuatu yang nyeleh, setelah menampilkan alter ego Jo Calderone dan Yuyi the Mermaid dalam video music Yoü and I, kali ini Lady Gaga berperan sebagai pasien rumah sakit jiwa dalam video music teranyarnya Marry The Night.

‘I am so nervous and excited to share this part of my past with you. It airs on both US coasts at 8pm on E! Get the wine’ tulis Lady Gaga dalam account twitternya sebelum dirilis resmi via E!. Video music Marry The Night menjadi debut penyutradaraan oleh Lady Gaga dengan durasi yang tergolong sangat panjang mencapai lebih dari 13 menit menurut Lady Gaga merupakan autobiographynya. Selama sembilan menit pertama lebih merupakan monolog dan kisah hidup Lady Gaga, musiknya sendiri baru muncul belakangan di mana Lady Gaga unjuk kebolehan dalam ngedance bersama sejumlah penari. Dikutip dari E! Lady Gaga mengungkapkan video music Marry The Night menceritakan saat-saat terburuk dalam kehidupannya saat dia dikeluarkan dari record label pertamanya Island Def Jam, namun penyanyi bernama lengkap Stefani Joanne Angelina Germonotta menolak untuk menyerah mencapai cita-citanya menjadi entertainer ‘...I'm gonna be a star. You know why? Because I have nothing left to lose.’

Lagu Marry The Night merupakan lagu pop-dance ditulis oleh Gaga dan Fernando Garibay merupakan single kelima yang diambil dari studio album kedua Born This Way. Lady Gaga telah beberapa kali tampil menyanyikan lagu ini diantara di acara MTV Europe Music Awards awal November, X Factor UK, dan yang terbaru di Grammy Nominations Concert Live!! 1 Desember lalu.

Dalam acara Grammy Nominations Concert Live!! Lady Gaga benar-benar tampil mempesona, setelah tampil sebagai pembuka acara membawakan single terbarunya 'Marry The Night', Lady Gaga kembali tampil menutup acara dan kali ini bersama country duo Sugarland berhasil memukau penonton yang hadir di Nokia Theater, Los Angeles dan mendapat standing ovation. Inilah kolaborasi pertama kali Lady Gaga dan Sugarland tampil bersama dalam satu panggung membawakan single Lady Gaga dari album Born This Way ‘Yoü and I’ dalam versi country.

Dalam lagu ‘Yoü and I’ Lady Gaga bernyanyi sambil bermain piano, Jennifer Nettles lead vocal Sugarland bermain gitar, sementara Kristian Bush backing vocal/gitaris Sugarland mengiringi dengan gitar di belakang mereka. Suara Lady Gaga yang ngepop ternyata sangat padu dengan Jennifer Nettles yang khas country.
Tak hanya kolaborasi pop dan country music yang tampil malam itu, namun juga kolaborasi country dan rap di mana Jason Aldean tampil bersama Ludacris membawakan single Jason Aldean dalam album My Kinda Party ‘Dirt Road Anthem’.

Nominasi Grammy Awards diumumkan hari ini di CBS live dari Nokia Theatre Los Angeles dengan host LL Cool J dalam rangkaian acara The Grammy Nominations Concert Live! Untuk tahun ini vocal kategori untuk pop, R&B dan country digabung, tak seperti tahun-tahun sebelumnya dimana dibedakan berdasarkan jenis kelamin.

Tak banyak kejutan untuk para peraih nominasi tahun ini. Kanye West berhasil memimpin perolehan nominasi terbanyak dengan tujuh kategori. Disusul oleh Adele, Bruno Mars dan Foo Fighter masing-masing dengan enam nominasi. Lady Gaga mendapatkan tiga nominasi untuk Album of the Year dan Best Pop Vocal Album (Born This Way) serta Best Pop Solo Performance (You and I). Katy Perry tahun ini hanya mendapat dua nominasi untuk Record of the Year dan Best Pop Solo Performance (Firework). Lady Antebellum yang tahun lalu berhasil memborong lima penghargaan Grammy, tahun ini hanya mendapat satu nominasi untuk Best Country Album (Own The Night). Sementara untuk kategori Best New Artis akan bersaing The Band Perry, Bon Iver,J. Cole, Nicki Minaj dan Skrillex.

Lady Gaga Kembali Dominasi MTV EMA 2011

Mengulang kesuksesan tahun lalu, penyanyi eksentrik Lady Gaga berhasil mempertahankan dominasi di ajang MTV European Music Awards 2011 yang berlangsung hari ini, setelah tahun lalu berhasil menyabet tiga penghargaan MTV EMA 2010, tahun ini Lady Gaga  berhasil memborong empat penghargaan dari total perolehan enam nominasi. Penghargaan yang berhasil disabet Lady Gaga untuk kategori Best Female, Best Song, Best Video Born This Way dan Biggest Fans.

Menyusul Lady Gaga, Bruno Mars berhasil memperoleh dua penghargaan untuk kategori Best Push dan Best New. Justin Bieber juga berhasil mendapat dua penghargaan kategori Best Male dan Best Pop, group band rock 30 Seconds to Mars mendapat penghargaan Best Alternative dan Best World Stage. Sementara penyanyi solo asal Inggri, Adele berhasil menyabet satu penghargaan untuk kategori Best UK & Ireland Act.

Acara penghargaan musik tahunan MTV EMA 2011 tahun ini berlangsung di Belfast, Irlandia Utara hari ini 6 November (waktu setempat) dengan host Selena Gomez dengan peformance di antaranya dari Coldplay membuka acara dengan single Every Teardrop is a Waterfall, Bruno Mars membawakan lagu Marry You, Justin Bieber dengan single terbarunya Mistletoe LMFAO tampil dengan hit andalan Party Rock Anthem, Lady Gaga menyanyikan single terbaru Marry the Night serta Queen menutup acara tampil bersama Adam Lambert dengan lagu medley The Show Must Go On, We Will Rock You dan We are the Champion.
